Everyone who authentically follows Christ goes through a continual process—sanctification. Which simply means we’re becoming more and more like Jesus. Around Vertical you’ll hear that described as worshiping, walking, and working for Christ. When we’re intentional about honoring God in these ways, we can’t help but become “mature in Christ” (Colossians 1:28)—growing deeper in our relationship with Him and our relationships with others.
Disciple-making is worked out together in our ministry to one another. It’s not about one or a small number of pastors bearing the full responsibility to care for our church (Ephesians 4:11-12). Rather it’s about all who follow Christ using our God-given spiritual gifts to minister to each other, in the context of our Christ-centered church.
How do we do this at Vertical? It happens most effectively through our Small Group Ministry. We want everyone who calls Vertical their home to take part in a small group. These are regular times of meeting together where the Scriptures are opened, lives are shared, and prayer is happening. Small group ministry even takes place within our Student and Children’s Ministries. All kinds of Small Groups are available, and new groups are continually forming.
Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously; let this be made known in all the earth. Isaiah 12:5
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. 2 Peter 3:18
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10
