Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, “for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
What a promise. The promise is awesome and encouraging in every way. First of all, that God will go with us. We can be courageous because God is the victory. The command to “Be strong and courageous” comes straight from the assurance that God is with us. The reality of God ensures that the purposes of God become a reality. Our part is to trust in the reality of God to bring about the reality of God’s purposes. That’s why we read the Bible, listen to sermons, pray, fast, go to a small group, encourage one another, and lean into the church. As we lean into the church and to disciples of faith we grow in our walk with the Lord, growing in depth of faith.
Secondly, God will not forsake us. This is tremendous on every level. God will not leave us as he is taking us into battle and into trials. When I can’t see God working, he is not gone. When I feel the pressure that is overwhelming me, he is still present. As I step out in faith, he will be there. The reason why I can trust the Lord is because his word is true, and he has promised his presence.
I can go forward only as I am found in God’s will. I can go forward in spite of obstacles, heartaches, and trials. God’s presence will always protect God’s purpose in the life of a believer. Where do you need to lean into God? If you are struggling with faith, you need to connect to his presence. And if you are suffering from fear, grow in theology, and connect with other believers. The greatest provision for you to walk where God wants you to walk, to follow where God is paving the way is found in you connecting to Jesus, to the church, and to the will of God through his Word.
